A private family hall when you cannot go home for Qingming
When the family is in more than one country, Qingming does not always mean a trip to the grave. The group chat is still there. One private hall can hold the same candle for everyone in it.
This is not a public memorial site. The link cannot be guessed. There is no account to create and no popup advertising. A relative opens it, leaves the name they use in the family, lights one candle, and can paste the same note back into the group.
WeChat sometimes shows only a blue link. In that case, long-press the picture, save it, and send it with the message. WhatsApp, LINE, and iMessage can use the phone's share sheet, which usually unfolds the link into a card.
The anniversary, Qingming, and the winter solstice can sit in the phone's calendar. Next year the reminder opens the same hall.
- Place a portrait and a name, and light the first candle.
- Send the link or the picture to the family group.
- Each person lights one candle. One each day.
- Add the anniversary and the festival days to the calendar if you want them to return.
